Separate the displayed currency from the currency charged
A price can look clear until the customer reaches a payment provider showing another currency. For a Costa Rican business serving several audiences, decide how the displayed amount relates to the actual charge before designing the product page.
Record the commercial rule
Ask the merchant-account owner and accountant which currencies the provider supports, what the customer is charged and how records are handled. Do not infer those answers from a currency symbol or from another business's website.
Make the difference visible
If an approximate converted amount is shown, describe it as an estimate and explain the basis your business has approved. The final checkout should identify its currency clearly. Avoid suggesting that a reference rate guarantees the customer's card conversion or settlement amount.
Test the full path
Follow the listing, basket, checkout, provider screen and confirmation using an agreed test account. Check a changed amount and a refund display. Staff should be able to identify the transaction currency without reconstructing the customer's browser session.
Banco Central de Costa Rica publishes official reference information, including exchange-rate indicators. It does not set the terms of your individual payment-provider agreement. We can implement the approved presentation and record flow in an online-store project; commercial, tax and accounting decisions need the relevant advisers.
